Types of HomesProviding a loving and stable home for a child in need can be a truly rewarding experience. However, there are many important aspects to consider. The Alliance Team will assist you through all of the necessary steps and provide you with the guidance you need to make an informed decision. Applicants can be married or single, renters or homeowners. All ethnic, social and religious backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Foster Care - Provides a temporary home for children removed from their biological families. As a foster parent, you prepare children to return to their family of origin.
Foster -to- Adopt - Programs were created to bridge the gap between a child’s initial need for temporary care and a permanent home. Ideally, it spares the child another move when adoption is the likely outcome. When a child is placed with a foster-to-adopt family, the child’s permanency is evaluated for reunification and adoption simultaneously, and possible visits with birth family may occur. As a foster-to-adopt parent, the goal is for you to eventually adopt, providing a permanent home, and allowing children to become apart of your family.
Foster -to- adopt is an attractive option for families seeking very young children as a high percentage of children placed are infants. These children can be “high risk” as the court could return the child to their biological family. The varying degrees of risk should be discussed with your social worker.
Once a decision on the type of home you would like to provide has been made, there are a few more steps before placement can take place.
At Alliance Adoption Assistance we will guide you through every step of the approval process to become a foster or adoptive parent.
The certification time frame will vary, but the process takes approximately 2-3 months. *Please note that the type of child desired will determine when a child is placed.
